Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi announced on Thursday that security guards will soon be stationed at all schools under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
Oberoi convened a meeting with teachers’ organizations at the Civic Centre, where she attentively heard and discussed the various concerns and requests put forth by the educators.
With the objective of enhancing the safety and protection of students enrolled in MCD-operated schools, she stated, “Security guards will be appointed in all schools in the near future,” as reported in an official statement by the MCD.
Furthermore, the mayor disclosed plans to hire data entry operators in all schools to alleviate teachers from non-academic administrative tasks.
Oberoi assured the teachers that a dedicated platform for teacher transfers will be launched soon, and she also pledged to promptly settle any outstanding payments owed to the teachers.
Mayor Oberoi extended her commitment to address the status of contract teachers who have been serving within the corporation for extended durations.
During the meeting, teachers brought to her attention the issue of non-deposit of National Pension Scheme (NPS) deductions into the NPS Fund over the past year. Responding to this concern, Oberoi directed the zonal offices to provide a report on the matter.
She highlighted ongoing efforts to establish libraries and smart classrooms in schools through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding, following discussions with officials from the Indian Bank. Oberoi earnestly urged all teachers to dedicate themselves to wholeheartedly educating students attending MCD schools and contributing to the holistic development of the children.
Simultaneously, Mayor Oberoi conducted an inspection of a cleanliness campaign in the Fateh Nagar ward located in the West Zone of the MCD.
