Cold wave tightens grip on Delhi as temperature drops to 3.3 degrees, season’s lowest

Delhi continued to grapple with persistent cold weather as it registered the lowest minimum temperature of the season at 3.3 degrees Celsius on Monday morning, marking a deviation of four notches below the seasonal average.

Various parts of the city witnessed a dense layer of fog, as reported by meteorological officials.

The preceding day, the minimum temperature had touched 3.5 degrees Celsius, representing the prior season’s record low. This marked a slight decrease from Saturday’s 3.6 degrees Celsius and Friday’s 3.9 degrees Celsius, both of which were the lowest temperatures recorded this season on those respective days.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) for Delhi, based on Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, stood at 382.

According to the AQI scale, values between zero and 50 are categorized as “good,” 51 to 100 as “satisfactory,” 101 to 200 as “moderate,” 201 to 300 as “poor,” 301 to 400 as “very poor,” and 401 to 500 as “severe.”
