Two bodies recovered after four people were feared drowned in the Yamuna; search halted due to bad weather

Two bodies have been recovered from the Yamuna in Gandhi Nagar area of east Delhi, where four people were feared drowned, officials said on Tuesday.

The search operation has been suspended due to adverse weather conditions, they said.

The incident was reported from near Madina Masjid on Zero Pusta Road on Monday evening. Police said they received a call about the incident at 7.20 pm on Monday and rushed a team to the spot.

The fire officials were also informed and two fire rescue teams were also rushed to the site. A search operation was launched immediately after the teams reached the spot.

Two bodies have been fished out so far, a fire official said.

The official said the rescue operation had to be halted due to bad weather conditions and will resume once weather permits. The identities of the deceased and the remaining missing persons are yet to be ascertained.

The exact circumstances leading to the incident are also not immediately known. Further investigation is underway.
