A Delhi court on Wednesday extended the judicial custody of AAP leader and former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia until May 30 in a corruption case related to an alleged excise scam.
Special Judge for CBI and ED, Kaveri Baweja, also set May 30 for further arguments on framing charges in the case.
The judge noted that an application for postponement of arguments on the charge is pending before the High Court.
Sisodia and other accused persons in custody were produced before the court via video-conferencing from prison.
On April 30, the court had dismissed Sisodia’s bail pleas in corruption and money laundering cases lodged by the CBI and ED in connection with the alleged scam. The court reserved the order after hearing arguments from the CBI and ED, as well as Sisodia’s counsel.
The ED informed the Delhi High Court on Tuesday that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would be made an accused in the next chargesheet in the money laundering case linked to the Delhi excise policy scam.
While opposing Sisodia’s bail plea, the law enforcement agency said there were concerted efforts by the accused to delay the trial in the excise policy scam case. The ED stated that a supplementary chargesheet would be filed very soon. (With inputs from PTI)
