Delhi: A portion of a dilapidated building collapsed in the Chandni Mahal area here, amid heavy rainfall in the national Capital on Monday, damaging three to four two-wheelers, police said.
After the Chandni Mahal police station received a PCR call about the collapse at 1569, Pahari Bhojla, it dispatched a police team, which reached the spot and secured the area.
Police said they shifted people present at the site to a safe location and removed vehicles lying under or near the debris. No injuries were reported, they said, adding that the building was in a dilapidated condition.
According to police, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) had already issued a notice regarding the building’s condition, and repair work was underway when the collapse happened.
Police said necessary action is being taken in coordination with the MCD authorities.
Heavy rain lashed several parts of Delhi, leading to waterlogging and traffic disruptions at multiple locations.
