Delhi government invites cab aggregators to share 50% of the cost for training of women cab drivers

The transport department of the Delhi government invited cab aggregators and fleet owners to tune in 50% of the cost of training for women to employ them as cab drivers

As per the officials on Wednesday, cab aggregators were invited by the transport department of the Delhi government to bear 50% of the cost to train women as drivers. The remaining 50% will be provided by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which was announced on 18 July, 2022. 

The initiative was taken to equip women with employable skills and opportunities in the public transport sector.

A public notice issued by the department read that they are inviting Fleet Owners/Aggregators working in Delhi for the training of interested women who seek employment and are eligible to get driving licence.

“The women drivers sponsored by Fleet Owners/Aggregators on successful completion of training shall be employed by the Fleet Owners/Aggregators,” the notice stated.

Those who wish to participate in the initiative can email their acceptance to by July 30.

The interested women candidates can fill the forms on the department’s website by August 15

The cost of educating each woman who wants to become a professional cab driver would be covered by the government to the tune of 50%, or roughly Rs 4,800, and will be covered by the transport department.

Earlier, the government has stated that the training will be conducted at the government centres in Burari, Loni and Sarai Kale Khan.

The Delhi Motor Vehicle Aggregator Scheme, which will mandate phase-wise adoption and an increase in the share of electric vehicles within the fleet of taxi aggregators, is currently being approved by the city administration, which also adopted the Electric Vehicle Policy in 2020.
