The Delhi government announced a ban on the production, sale, and use of firecrackers in the capital on Monday to curb air pollution during the upcoming winter season.
Environment Minister Gopal Rai said that the ban also includes the online sale and delivery of firecrackers.
To enforce the ban, an action plan will be developed in coordination with Delhi Police, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee, and the Revenue Department, he added.

Rai said that the prohibition on the production, storage, sale, and use of firecrackers will be in effect until January 1, 2025.
This measure is part of the Delhi government’s winter action plan, which focuses on 21 key areas to reduce pollution, he said. (With inputs from PTI)
