Debadhara Delhi will present the “Guru Shishya Sanman” festival, a two-day event celebrating India’s cultural heritage, on September 14 and 15 at Triveni Kala Sangam, Mandi House, New Delhi. The dance and music festival will begin at 6:30 PM on both days.

This year’s festival also marks the 21st anniversary of Debadhara Delhi, an organisation founded by Binayak Panda in 2003. Speaking about the milestone, Panda said, “Over the past two decades, we have successfully organized 35 festivals of Indian dance and music, both in India and abroad. ‘Guru Shishya Sanman’ is our way of paying tribute to the timeless tradition of guru-shishya Parampara”.

The festival will feature performances by renowned artists and students of Debadhara, showcasing the Odissi style of Late Guru Debaprasad Das. Panda added that the event aims to highlight the unique aspects of the synthetic gharana of Odissi dance, which combines multiple elements of the traditional style.

On Day 1, audiences will witness vocal performances by Puspashree Mishra and Guru Rakesh Kr Pathak, followed by Kathak by Guru Harish Gangani and Group, Bharatanatyam by Guru Kanaka Sudhakar and Group, and an Odissi presentation by Bagmishree.

Day 2 will include Odissi performances by Guru Jyoti Rout and Group from the USA, Bharatanatyam by Guru Indira Murugesan and Group, Kathak by Guru Rani Khanam and Group, Chhau by Guru Sapan Acharya and Group, and an Odissi performance by Debadhara Senior Group.
