The Delhi government has mandated that interstate buses are to pick up and drop off passengers exclusively at the three designated ISBTs, according to an official statement.
A circular issued by the Transport Department on September 18 states that All India Tourist Permit (AITP) buses, interstate tourist buses, and contract carriages must only transport passengers with pre-booked tickets.
“All AITP buses/interstate tourist buses/contract carriages and buses operated by government/STUs are required to pick up and drop off passengers solely at the designated ISBTs, namely Kashmere Gate, Anand Vihar, and Sarai Kale Khan. No other public locations in Delhi are permitted for these purposes,” the circular reads.

The Transport Department, in collaboration with Delhi Traffic Police, will conduct regular checks to monitor buses that pick up or drop off passengers at non-designated public spots and verify the passenger lists maintained by them.
“Violations may lead to penalties under the MV Act, vehicle impoundment under Section 207 of the Act, and permit suspensions under Section 86,” the statement warned.
The order has been issued to improve traffic flow and enhance public safety for both pedestrians and motorists, it added. (With inputs from PTI)
