The Delhi government issued an advisory for schools on Wednesday, urging them to ensure timely monitoring of emails received at their official addresses after around 100 schools in Delhi-NCR received a hoax bomb threat, prompting evacuations and searches as worried parents hurried to collect their children.

The threat, which was later determined to be a hoax as nothing harmful was discovered during the searches, led to heightened security measures and increased vigilance across affected areas.

“In light of recent bomb threats received by several schools in Delhi this morning, it is recommended that School Administrators/Managers/Heads of Government/Government Aided and Unaided Recognised Schools under the Directorate of Education, GNCT Delhi should promptly check emails/messages received on the school’s official email id at any time of the day,” reads the advisory issued by the Directorate of Education.

Furthermore, the advisory instructed school administrations to immediately alert the relevant district education officials and the Delhi Police if any suspicious activity is detected.

“The school authorities are advised to inform parents and relevant law enforcement agencies to take necessary precautions regarding the safety and security of the students in case of any potential threats or challenges,” the advisory added. (With inputs from PTI)
