Delhi Hospital Shooting: Delhi Police arrested another key conspirator in the GTB Hospital shooting case on Wednesday, officials announced.
The mastermind, Faheem, had designated Moin (19) as a backup in case the initial plan failed, according to authorities.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Surendra Choudhary stated that Moin had visited GTB Hospital multiple times prior to the shooting to gather information about its entry and exit points.
Moin conducted reconnaissance over four days with associates Ayan, Aman, and Shavez, who were present inside the hospital during the crime, he added.
Initially, Moin’s task was to hide the motorcycle used in the crime, but Faheem had also positioned him as a contingency plan, the DCP said, noting that the investigation continues.
In a case of mistaken identity, 32-year-old Riyazuddin was shot dead by a teenager inside a GTB Hospital ward on Sunday.
On Monday, police arrested Faiz (20) from Loni, Uttar Pradesh, and Farhan from Delhi’s Chauhan Banger area. They did not fire the shots but provided logistical support to the main perpetrator.
On Tuesday, police revealed that a rival of jailed gangster Hashim Baba was the intended target.
The attackers aimed to kill Waseem (33), who is involved in multiple criminal cases and had threatened Hashim Baba over gang rivalry, an officer said.
Faheem, a close associate of Hashim Baba, orchestrated the murder plot and trained the others on how to enter and exit the hospital after the crime.
The suspects are believed to be members of Hashim Baba’s gang, police said on Tuesday. (With inputs from PTI)
