Delhi’s first injury-free multi-sports field: A first-of-its-kind injury-free multi-sports field was inaugurated by Indian cricket team’s Head Coach Gautam Gambhir at Modern School in Vasant Vihar on Tuesday.

This modern facility is a big step forward for India’s sports infrastructure, offering a safe and fun place for young athletes to train and compete.

A new era in school sports

India’s sports culture is changing quickly, with schools like Modern School in Vasant Vihar upgrading their facilities to meet global standards. Gallant Sports is helping these schools by creating top-quality sports arenas. This new field shows how important sports are for students’ growth and development.

Gambhir’s support

At the event, Gautam Gambhir, an ex-Modernite, emphasised the significance of such initiatives.

“The sporting culture in India is changing rapidly, reflecting a growing recognition of the importance of sports in a student’s overall development,” Gambhir told Patriot

“Schools play a pivotal role in nurturing young talent, and investing in multi-sports turfs is crucial. It not only encourages active participation but also fosters a spirit of competition and teamwork among students. These initiatives enhance physical fitness and instill discipline and resilience, qualities essential both on and off the field. By providing world-class facilities, schools can empower their students to excel in diverse sports, paving the way for future champions and contributing to a healthier, more active nation,” he added.

He further said, “This is the need of the hour to encourage our children to be outside, to play outside, and enjoy life beyond their phones and tablets. Nowadays, all we see is children limited to their screens, whether it is tabs or mobiles. We should provide them with more platforms and facilities that can help them leave their devices behind and come outside.”

Innovative sports infrastructure

Gallant Sports is a leader in new sports infrastructure, introducing injury-free multi-sports fields in India. This new field, covering almost 100,000 sq. ft, uses a special non-rubber infill and perforated pipes for good water management.

A shock pad ensures safety, supporting sports like football, futsal, hockey, cricket, and athletics. Despite challenges like Delhi’s heat and rain, the project to make the field finished on time, providing a safe and enjoyable playing area for children. This is the first turf of its kind in Delhi, setting a new standard for sports facilities in the region.

Commitment to holistic development

Nasir Ali, CEO of Gallant Sports, shared his excitement about the project.

This project shows our commitment to promoting safe and sustainable sports infrastructure in India.”

Need for better sports facilities

India has many top sports facilities managed by government bodies, private companies, and local organisations.

“While cricket is very popular, there’s a big need for better facilities for sports like football, hockey, and athletics. Many facilities need safety and usability improvements, which slow down the growth of sports,” added Ali.

“More investment from both the government and businesses is needed to renovate these facilities, improve access to sports, and help young athletes reach their potential. This will not only improve sports in India but also raise the country’s global sports reputation,” he said further

“The opening of the injury-free multi-sports field at Modern School in Vasant Vihar marks a milestone in India’s effort to improve its sports infrastructure. By focusing on world-class facilities, Gallant Sports and schools like Modern School are paving the way for future champions and contributing to a healthier, more active nation.”
