Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has instructed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to extend its single-window special camps for the Pradhan Mantri – Unauthorised Colonies in Delhi Awas Adhikar Yojana (PM-UDAY) until March 2025. This follows a successful turnout of nearly 20,000 visitors at the camp over a period of eight days, as per an official statement released on Thursday.
The DDA organised these special camps every weekend from November 30 to December 29 at 10 designated processing centres located in unauthorised colonies. In total, 19,313 individuals participated, of which 3,599 were first-time applicants, the statement reported.
During the camp’s duration, a significant number of documents were processed, including the issuance of 1,152 conveyance deeds/authorisation slips. Additionally, 283 properties were successfully registered by sub-registrars, granting final ownership rights to the property holders.

Lieutenant Governor Saxena has closely monitored the progress of the PM-UDAY initiative, which aims to regularise properties in unauthorised colonies. He had previously raised concerns about the challenges faced by beneficiaries, including bureaucratic delays, accessibility issues, and the harassment caused by multiple visits to various offices. He had specifically highlighted the Revenue Department’s lack of cooperation as a significant impediment to the smooth implementation of the scheme.
In light of these issues, the LG had recommended, in a meeting held last November, that the DDA take the initiative of holding special camps directly within the unauthorised colonies, ensuring that these camps are more accessible and facilitate greater participation from the residents. This move is expected to streamline the process and better serve the needs of the people, particularly in areas where infrastructure and services have been lacking.
