Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accompanied by his family members including wife Sunita Kejriwal, cast his ballot at a polling booth in the Civil Lines area of the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency.
Expressing solidarity with voters, Kejriwal emphasized the importance of participation in the electoral process as a means to combat “dictatorship, price rise, and unemployment.”
While casting their votes, Kejriwal’s family, excluding his elderly mother due to health reasons, demonstrated their commitment against prevailing issues. Kejriwal conveyed to reporters his observation of widespread dissatisfaction among voters, urging them to brave the intense summer heat and exercise their voting rights to oppose “dictatorial tendencies.”
Kejriwal, currently on interim bail until June 1 in the Delhi excise policy case, expressed his family’s collective hope for divine protection as they fulfill their civic duty. The electoral landscape in Delhi witnesses a direct contest between the BJP and the INDIA bloc comprising Congress and AAP. AAP, under a 4:3 formula, contests seats in East Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi, and New Delhi, while Congress fields candidates in North East, North West, and Chandni Chowk constituencies.
Notably, senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi exercised their franchise in the New Delhi constituency, where AAP’s Somnath Bharti contends against the BJP’s Bansuri Swaraj.
