Delhi Metro tickets now available on Uber app

Beginning today, Uber users in the national capital will be able to plan their metro journeys, purchase QR-based tickets, and access real-time transit information, within the Uber app

Ride-hailing platform Uber on Monday announced the launch of metro ticketing services through its app, in collaboration with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). The integration begins with the Delhi Metro, making it the first city to go live under this initiative.

As part of a phased expansion, metro ticketing will be introduced in three additional Indian cities in 2025. Uber also revealed plans to roll out B2B logistics services via the ONDC network, enabling businesses to access on-demand delivery through Uber’s logistics network without the need to maintain a dedicated fleet.

“This marks Uber’s first integration with India’s digital public infrastructure and represents a significant step toward enhancing the connectivity of public transport,” the company said in a statement.

The launch stems from a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2024 during Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi’s visit to India. At the time, Uber pledged to work with ONDC to further the reach and impact of the country’s digital public goods ecosystem.

“Today’s launch is a tangible realisation of that commitment, reinforcing Uber’s mission to make urban mobility more inclusive, sustainable, and seamlessly connected,” the statement added.

Commenting on the development, Uber’s Chief Technology Officer, Praveen Neppalli Naga, said, “India has taken an impressive leap in building population-scale technology through its digital public infrastructure such as ONDC. We are thrilled to integrate with ONDC to bring metro ticketing to the Uber app—bringing us closer to our vision of becoming a one-stop shop for mobility needs.”

Vibhor Jain, Acting CEO and COO at ONDC, called Uber’s entry into the ONDC network a pivotal move in expanding access to trusted, interoperable digital infrastructure.

“Uber’s introduction of metro ticketing and logistics capabilities via ONDC unlocks new possibilities—from seamless multimodal journeys to bridging gaps in the fragmented logistics ecosystem,” Jain said. “This collaboration lays the groundwork for future innovations, enhancing value for users, partners, and the broader mobility and services sector.”

With this new integration, Uber users in Delhi can now plan metro journeys, purchase QR-based tickets, and access real-time transit information—all within the Uber app.
