Delhi Police arrested five people in separate cases and recovered 45 reels and spools of banned Chinese manjha from central Delhi, with an investigation underway to trace its supply chain

Police have arrested five people in separate cases for allegedly possessing and selling banned Chinese manjha in central Delhi, recovering 45 reels and spools of the prohibited kite string, an official said on Monday.

The police said that two reels were recovered from Mohammad Rizwan, 34, near Urdu Park in Meena Bazar, while 29 reels were seized from 20-year-old Mohammad Azim near Exelor Cinema in Hauz Qazi, police said.

Another accused, Mohammad Sameem, 50, was found carrying three reels near Fazil Road in the Himmatgarh area, they said.

Police also recovered nine charakhis from Abdul Kalam, 46, who was allegedly selling the banned manjha from a shop in Ajmeri Gate. Two more spools were seized from Arif, 37, near Takiya Kale Khan.

Cases have been registered and further investigation is underway. During questioning, Sameem disclosed that he procured the banned manjha from Sadar Bazaar. Police said efforts were underway to trace the source and supply chain.
