On Thursday, the police apprehended five individuals, including two juveniles, for their alleged involvement in killing a person during a robbery in the Samaypur Badli area of north Delhi. The three adults involved were identified as Ikram (22), Durgesh Mishra (24), and Sunil (23).
The incident occurred during the night between Tuesday and Wednesday when all the accused, who were intoxicated, attacked two passersby using a knife, a stick, and an iron rod.
One of the victims, Siddhu, lost his life due to stab wounds in his stomach, while his friend Manish sustained severe injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.
The assailants managed to steal Rs 200 from the victims before making their escape.
“During investigation, police came to know that the deceased and the injured were in the business of supplying drinking water,” Special Commissioner of Police (crime) Ravindra Singh Yadav said.
At the time of the incident, both victims were en route to collect overdue payments.
After learning about the involvement of two juveniles, the police initiated an investigation and registered a case.
A Crime Branch team apprehended two juveniles and raided several hideouts of the three others at their instance.
During one of these raids, the police apprehended Ikram, Durgesh, and Sunil in a colony situated opposite the monastery market near Kashmere Gate ISBT, as confirmed by Yadav.
During the arrest, the police recovered an iron rod and a stick from the accused, who had plans to escape to Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh to evade arrest.
