Delhi Police personnel averted a tragedy by rescuing a man who was attempting to jump from the fifth floor of the ISBT Kashmere Gate building

Delhi Police personnel rescued a 32-year-old man who was allegedly attempting to jump from the fifth floor of the ISBT Kashmere Gate building, averting a tragedy, an officer said on Sunday.

Police said a PCR call was received on June 19 reporting that a man was threatening to jump from the building at the interstate bus terminal.

“Head Constable Ajay and Constable Piyush of the ISBT police post rushed to the spot and found the man standing on the outer ledge outside a fifth-floor window,” a senior police officer said.

The policemen engaged the distressed man in conversation to calm him while simultaneously planning a rescue operation. A safety rope was secured around his waist, with the other end anchored inside the building.

“Risking his own safety, Head Constable Ajay climbed out through the window and moved towards the man. At an opportune moment, he managed to grab hold of him and pull him back inside,” the officer said.
