Delhi poll body sets up district help desks to assist voters with SIR queries, with claims and objections open until October 30

The Delhi poll body has set up help desks across all 13 districts to help people check their names in the draft electoral roll and apply for inclusion during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, officials said.

The help desks have been set up at the offices of district election officers at the district level and electoral registration officers at the Assembly constituency level. People can also call the 1950 helpline for assistance with electoral roll-related issues and filing Form 6, according to a statement issued by the office of the Delhi chief electoral officer (CEO).

The CEO’s office has deployed 14,947 booth-level officers (BLOs), 1,313 BLO supervisors, 902 assistant electoral registration officers, 70 electoral registration officers and 13 district election officers for the exercise.

It has also announced special camps on October 18 and October 25, where BLOs will help people with SIR-related cases.

Since the publication of the draft electoral roll for Delhi’s 70 Assembly constituencies on August 31, a total of 2,24,073 people have filed Form 6 to get themselves registered as voters.

The draft roll excluded more than 47 lakh names from an electorate of around 1.45 crore. The exclusions included cases involving discrepancies in names, ages and other voter details, as well as people who did not furnish details of the 2002 electoral rolls.

The claims and objections window will remain open until October 30.

Applications and objections will be disposed of by November 30 and the final electoral roll will be published on December 4.
