Delhi rains: A 15-year-old boy drowned on a waterlogged road near The British School in central Delhi’s Chanakyapuri area following heavy rain in parts of the city on Friday, officials said.
The boy, Sourabh, resided with his family at the Vivekanand Camp in the same area, according to the police.
Police said that Sourabh, along with some friends, was playing in the rain on the waterlogged road near the British School when he accidentally wandered into deep water and drowned.

His friends quickly informed his family, who rushed to the scene, pulled him out of the water, and took him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, officials added.
The police said the victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem, and further investigations are ongoing.

Meanwhile, heavy rains in parts of Delhi on Friday caused waterlogged streets, disrupting traffic in various parts of the national capital. Police reported receiving 15 complaints related to traffic issues and 12 complaints about waterlogging.
In updates shared on X, the Delhi Police noted that traffic on GTK Road was affected by waterlogging near GTK Depot, with diversions being made towards the Wazirabad side. “Commuters can take road number 51 to reach the NPL side,” the police advised.

Traffic was also disrupted on the carriageway from Moti Bagh Chowk towards Sector-8 RK Puram on RTR due to waterlogging near Moti Bagh Chowk.

Similarly, heavy waterlogging under the Dhaula Kuan flyover caused traffic delays on Ring Road, Vande Mataram Marg, and GGR.

The Delhi Police further reported that traffic on Ring Road was affected on both carriageways from Safdarjang towards Dhaula Kuan due to severe waterlogging near the Satya Niketan bus stand. Commuters have been urged to avoid these roads. (With inputs from PTI)
