Delhi on Wednesday received rains, with the minimum temperature dropping to 26.4 degrees Celsius, slightly below the seasonal average, said India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Waterlogging was reported in several parts of central, north and east Delhi, causing traffic jams in the city.
The weather forecast predicts generally cloudy conditions with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms throughout the day, with the maximum temperature expected to reach around 32 degrees Celsius.
The IMD has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for the city, indicating light to moderate rainfall for the next two days.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was reported as ‘satisfactory’ at 60 at 4 pm, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.

AQI categories are as follows: 0-50 is considered “good,” 51-100 “satisfactory,” 101-200 “moderate,” 201-300 “poor,” 301-400 “very poor,” and 401-500 “severe.”
IMD employs colour codes in weather warnings to highlight the severity of expected weather phenomena. These alerts aim to inform officials and disaster management authorities about potential impacts to ensure preparedness for disaster risk reduction.
A ‘green’ alert means no advisory is needed, ‘yellow’ suggests awareness as conditions may worsen and disrupt daily life, ‘orange’ indicates preparation for possible power outages and transportation disruptions, while ‘red’ advises taking action due to extremely adverse weather conditions that could affect transportation, power supply, and pose life risks.
