Delhi records below-normal minimum temperature; AQI moderate

Delhi recorded a below-normal minimum temperature of 26.2°C on Sunday, with air quality remaining in the moderate category and thunderstorms likely later in the day

Delhi: The minimum temperature in the national capital was recorded at 26.2 degrees Celsius, 1.8 degrees below the normal, according to the India Meteorological Department.

The weather department earlier predicted partly cloudy sky with the possibility of thunder and lightning. The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 37 degrees Celsius.

Relative humidity was recorded at 61 per cent at 8.30 am.

The air quality stayed in the ‘moderate’ category at 9 am, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 143, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data showed.

According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 ‘poor’, 301 and 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 and 500 ‘severe’.

Delhi on Saturday recorded a maximum temperature of 35.6 degrees Celsius, 4.3 notches below the season’s average, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 21.4 degrees Celsius, 6.6 notches below the season’s average. The relative humidity was recorded at 48 per cent at 5.30 pm.
