Delhi has seen a record high in Chikungunya and Malaria cases over the past five years, while dengue cases have decreased, according to official reports.
As of November 9, 2024, the city had recorded 728 malaria cases and 172 chikungunya cases.
In previous years, malaria cases numbered 228 in 2020, 167 in 2021, 263 in 2022, and 426 in 2023.
The latest tally includes 19 cases reported in the week leading up to November 9, as per the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s weekly mosquito-borne disease report.
Chikungunya cases in 2020 were 111, 89 in 2021, 48 in 2022, and 65 in 2023.
This year, by November 9, the number of chikungunya cases had risen to 172.
On the other hand, Delhi reported 4,533 dengue cases in 2024, including 472 in November.
This marks a decrease compared to 2023, which saw 9,266 dengue cases.

Dengue cases have sharply dropped since last month, when the number surged to 2,431 cases in October from 1,052 in September.
The Shahdara South zone recorded the highest number of chikungunya cases, with 87 cases, while the City SP zone saw the most malaria cases, with 104. Central Delhi had the highest number of dengue cases, with 490 cases.
