Delhi sees slight dip in temperature; IMD issues yellow alert for rain

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for the city, forecasting thunder and lightning accompanied by light rain

Delhi woke up to relatively cooler conditions on Sunday as the minimum temperature settled at 28.8 degrees Celsius, marginally below the season’s average by 0.8 degrees, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for the day, warning of possible thunder and lightning along with light rainfall across the capital. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 33 degrees Celsius.

Humidity levels remained high, with the relative humidity recorded at 80 percent at 8:30 AM.

Meanwhile, the city’s air quality remained in the ‘satisfactory’ category on Sunday morning. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recorded the Air Quality Index (AQI) at 82 at 9 AM.

As per the CPCB’s classification, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.
