SRINAGAR: Digitisation of enumeration forms under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Delhi’s electoral rolls crossed the 35-lakh mark on Saturday, with election officials increasingly shifting focus from form distribution to processing the forms received from voters.
According to the Chief Electoral Officer’s status report, 35,07,758 enumeration forms have been digitised, covering 24.17 per cent of Delhi’s 1,45,10,298 electors, up from 30,49,330 forms on Friday.
Among districts, Outer North became the first district to cross the 40 per cent mark in digitisation, recording 40.21 per cent, followed by South West (34.37 per cent), West (28.93 per cent), Central North (28.76 per cent) and North West (28.67 per cent).
South East Delhi remained the lowest at 14.93 per cent, followed by Old Delhi (16.61 per cent) and East (16.60 per cent).
The door-to-door distribution exercise is also nearing completion, with 1,44,68,389 enumeration forms distributed, covering 99.71 per cent of the electorate.
Six districts – South East, Old Delhi, North, New Delhi, North East and South – have achieved 100 per cent distribution, according to the status report.
Among the districts, Central (99.97 per cent), South West (99.95 per cent), Outer North and West (99.65 per cent each), East (99.81 per cent), Central North (99.90 per cent) and North West (97.72 per cent) are yet to complete the exercise.
In terms of absolute numbers, South West Delhi recorded the highest number of digitised forms at 4,57,101, followed by North East (4,06,482), West (4,21,229) and North West (3,66,195).
The Election Commission has extended the SIR schedule for Delhi, allowing the booth level officers (BLOs) to continue house-to-house visits till August 8, instead of July 29. The additional time is expected to aid the collection and digitisation of completed forms.
Under the SIR exercise, BLOs distribute two copies of the enumeration form to every elector. One copy is retained by the voter as an acknowledgement, while the other is submitted to the BLO after being filled. Voters can also submit their forms online.
