Delhi: An 18-year-old boy was found dead with his throat slit in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area, allegedly killed after he tried to mediate in a dispute over his friend’s romantic relationship, police said on Thursday.
Md Saad, who had previous criminal cases against him, was discovered near a drain in Nizamuddin West on May 12, said Ravi Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast). The body bore a deep cut on the throat, indicating a deliberate act of violence.
Police have arrested four men—Altamash (18), a battery repair worker identified as the main assailant; Faizan (22), a rickshaw driver with a criminal record from Kot Mohalla; and Dilshad (18) and Abrar (18). A 17-year-old boy has also been detained under the Juvenile Justice Act.
According to the police, Saad’s murder was linked to his friend Azeem’s relationship with Altamash’s sister, Zara. Altamash was reportedly opposed to the relationship and saw Saad’s attempts to intervene as interference.
“Saad had been urging Altamash to allow the relationship to continue, which angered him further. In retaliation, Altamash, along with his associates, conspired to kill Saad,” the DCP said.

Police were alerted around 8:30 PM on May 12 through a PCR call reporting a body near the drain. Investigations later confirmed that Altamash used a sharp weapon to kill Saad.
