Delhi Traffic Police has directed the PWD and the agency executing flyover construction work on the Modi Mill-Kalkaji corridor to take immediate measures to ease congestion and ensure smoother movement of commuters, officials said on Tuesday.

Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Ajay Choudhary inspected the ongoing Public Works Department (PWD) flyover construction between Modi Mill Flyover and Kalkaji and reviewed the traffic situation along the stretch, they said.

During the inspection, Choudhary, along with DCP (Traffic) Sandeep Gupta and other officials, interacted with representatives of the Okhla Industrial Estate Association, Okhla Phase-3.

The association representatives raised concerns over traffic congestion and movement in the area, particularly in view of the ongoing construction work, and suggested measures to improve traffic flow.

Choudhary directed the PWD officials and construction agency to take immediate corrective measures, including deploying additional traffic marshals to regulate vehicular movement at the site.

The construction agency was also asked to ensure that the minimum possible portion of the carriageway is occupied during the construction work so that adequate road space remains available for traffic.

Additional traffic personnel have also been directed to be deployed at the location to regulate vehicles, manage congestion and facilitate smooth movement, officials said.
