Delhi’s air quality improves from ‘severe’ to ‘very poor’ category

On a chilly Christmas morning in the nation’s capital on Monday, a dense blanket of fog enveloped the city while officials reported a slight enhancement in air quality, shifting from the “severe” to the “very poor” category.

According to the India Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature settled at 9.4 degrees Celsius.

At 8:30 am, the relative humidity registered at 100 percent.

There was a marginal improvement in Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) on Monday morning.

The AQI recorded at 9:05 am was 393, while the 24-hour AQI stood at 411 on Sunday.

The AQI scale categorizes values between zero and 50 as “good”, 51 to 100 as “satisfactory”, 101 to 200 as “moderate”, 201 to 300 as “poor”, 301 to 400 as “very poor”, and 401 to 500 as “severe”. (With inputs from PTI)
