The Delhi Jal Board is gearing up for its ‘revenue week’ starting on December 26, aiming to increase awareness about its lesser-known facilities among the public. According to sources, the board plans to establish four camps across the city for this purpose.

During the ‘revenue week’, the DJB will conduct informative sessions at these camps, focusing on various services such as self-billing procedures, meter reading techniques, temporary disconnection options, and other available facilities.

Sources revealed that a meeting between DJB officials and Zonal Revenue Offices (ZRO) is scheduled for Monday. Officers have been tasked with identifying suitable locations for setting up these camps.

“While the initial plan was to place the camps at Zonal Revenue Offices, it has been reconsidered. We aim to reach citizens beyond these offices, as they often approach ZRO only during distress,” stated a DJB source.

The objective of these camps is to educate citizens about meter readings, especially during self-billing, to avoid erroneous billing. Understanding meter readings can significantly reduce billing discrepancies, as previously highlighted by a DJB official.

Moreover, the DJB aims to highlight the underutilized feature of temporary disconnection. Despite opportunities for temporary disconnection, many residents are unaware of this option, especially when away from their homes for extended periods.

“Often, people are unaware that they can temporarily disconnect services, particularly when they are away for extended periods. This results in bills being generated even during their absence,” the source explained.

Earlier, the DJB successfully conducted a ‘maintenance week,’ deploying 11 additional chief engineers (maintenance) across zones to address various infrastructure issues. (With inputs from PTI)
