Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the culmination of the fasting month of Ramzan, will be celebrated in the country on Thursday, as the moon was not sighted this evening.
However, Eid will be celebrated across Kerala, Leh, and Kargil on Wednesday. Delhi’s Fatehpuri Masjid Imam Mufti Mukarram Ahmad informed that the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee contacted various places, confirming the moon’s absence.
Therefore, Eid will be observed in India on Thursday, with the 30th fast of Ramzan on Wednesday. Former Imam of Shahi Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari mentioned no sighting of the Shawwal moon in different parts of India.
Hence, Eid will be celebrated on Thursday, April 11. Lucknow’s Markazi Chand Committee also declared Eid to be on April 11 due to the moon’s absence.
Eid-ul-Fitr’s global celebration varies based on the sighting of the crescent moon, symbolizing the start of the Shawwal month in the lunar Islamic calendar and concluding the fasting month of Ramzan. (With inputs from PTI)
