Meanwhile, earlier in the day, another fire broke out at a restaurant in southeast Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar. Authorities received a call about the incident at 9:53 AM, and four fire tenders were sent to the scene. The blaze was fully extinguished by 10:35 AM, with no injuries reported. Officials have informed the police for further investigation.

Authorities are now looking into the causes of both incidents.

On Saturday, a tragic fire at Surya Mandir in Prem Nagar, Rohini district, claimed the life of 65-year-old priest Pandit Banwari Lal Sharma. The fire broke out in the morning, prompting a quick response from police and firefighters. Rescuers found Sharma trapped inside the temple and rushed him to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Amit Goel stated that preliminary investigations suggest the fire may have been accidental, as a heater was reportedly on in the room. Police have examined four individuals, including two of the victim’s family members, a caller, and a neighbour. The post-mortem has been conducted, and authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
