The Kirana Gharana Music Society is set to host a tribute concert in memory of the legendary Hindustani classical vocalist, Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. The event, scheduled for Wednesday, April 26, will take place from 6:00 pm onwards at Triveni Kala Sangam in New Delhi.
As an important representative of Kirana Gharana, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi made significant contributions to the world of classical music. To honor his legacy, the event will feature a unique classical music concert, with an array of talented performers.
The concert will kick off with a Vocal-Sitar duet by Mohammad Amaan Khan and Adnan Khan, accompanied by Tabla player Zuheb Ahmed Khan. The second item will be a vocal performance by the legendary Pandit Jayateerth Mevundi, accompanied by Tabla player, the Legendary Ustad Rafiuddin Sabri, and Harmonium player Paromita Mukherjee.
The Kirana Gharana Music Society invites all classical music enthusiasts to attend the concert and pay tribute to the late Pandit Bhimsen Joshi through their presence. Please note that entry is restricted after 6:00 pm as per auditorium protocol.
According to Ustad Abdul Sami Khan, the president of Kirana Gharana Music Society, the organization is hosting a concert to pay tribute to the late Pandit Bhimsej Joshi, a renowned artist of Kirana Gharana.
He said that the event also aims to promote Indian classical music and culture by providing a platform to showcase the talents of the best artists in India.
Zuheb Ahmed Khan, a tabla player from Ajrada Gharana acknowledged that Kairana Gharana is one of the oldest Gharanas in Indian Classical Music and this year, the Society is paying tribute to one of the pioneers of Indian classical music, Bharat Ratna Pt Bhimsen Joshi, who himself belonged to Kairana Gharana.
Zuheb also extended his gratitude to Mohsin Ali Khan, who is one of the representatives and organizers of the concert. He appreciated Mohsin’s efforts in encouraging and providing platforms to the younger generation to showcase their talents and continue the rich musical traditions of our nation.
