Give paid holidays to employees during G20 Summit: Delhi govt directs shops, businesses

The Delhi government had issued a notification declaring a public holiday in the national capital on September 8–10

The G20 Summit is scheduled from September 9 to 10 at the newly constructed Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan

The city administration has instructed shops, businesses, and commercial entities within the New Delhi district to provide their employees and workers with compensated leave during the upcoming G20 summit.

The Delhi government’s recent announcement designates September 8-10 as public holidays in the national capital.

The G20 Leaders’ Summit is scheduled to take place at the newly constructed convention center in Pragati Maidan, located in the New Delhi district.

In anticipation of the event, the local authorities had previously declared the temporary closure of banks, financial institutions, and commercial establishments within the district.

To adhere to these directives, all employers operating shops, commercial establishments, and businesses in the New Delhi district are required to suspend operations from September 8 to September 10, 2023.

Furthermore, they are obligated to provide paid time off to their employees and workers during this period.

The summit is expected to see participation from 29 heads of state, along with senior representatives from the European Union, invited guest nations, and 14 leaders from international organisations.
