The Delhi government has announced a hike in the minimum wages for all categories of workers, effective from April 1. This revision provides an increase of up to Rs 500 per month, depending on the skill and education level of the worker.
Updated Wage Structure
Unskilled workers will now receive Rs 18,456 monthly, up from Rs 18,066. Semi-skilled workers will earn Rs 20,371, compared to the previous Rs 19,929. Skilled workers will see a rise from Rs 21,917 to Rs 22,411.
Wages have also been revised based on education levels. Non-matriculate workers will now get Rs 20,371, matriculates (but not graduates) will receive Rs 22,411, and those with graduate degrees or higher will earn Rs 24,356, up from Rs 23,836.

Provision for Complaints
An official order issued by Joint Labour Commissioner KM Singh stated that workers receiving less than the prescribed minimum wages can lodge complaints with the Joint or Deputy Labour Commissioner in their district. These officials are designated authorities under the Minimum Wages Act. The notification also emphasised that the revised wages are intended to help offset inflation and improve the financial stability of Delhi’s workforce.

Previous Increase and State Comparisons
This is the first revision since October 1 of the previous year. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, which previously led Delhi, has long pushed for higher minimum wages and often cited Delhi’s pay rates as the highest in India.
By comparison, minimum wages in other states are significantly lower—Rajasthan (Rs 8,063), Uttar Pradesh (Rs 8,300), Madhya Pradesh (Rs 10,000), Haryana (Rs 10,000), and Chhattisgarh (Rs 10,900).
