Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions along with strong surface winds are expected on Monday, with the Met office predicting a maximum temperature of 46 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 29.2 degrees Celsius, 2.6 degrees above normal.
At 8:30 am, the relative humidity stood at 48 percent.
The weather office has forecast mainly clear skies and heatwave to severe heatwave conditions with strong surface winds. On Sunday, the national capital registered a maximum temperature of 45.4 degrees Celsius, five degrees above normal, according to the Safdarjung weather observatory.
Since last week, the city has recorded maximum temperatures above 40 degrees, providing no respite from the relentless heat.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department’s (IMD) seven-day forecast for Delhi, the maximum temperature for the next three days is likely to remain at 46 degrees, then decrease by a degree on Thursday, followed by 44 degrees on Friday and 43 degrees on Saturday and Sunday.
The weather office predicted light rain on Friday and a partly cloudy sky the next day.
On Sunday, Mungeshpur in Delhi was the hottest, with a maximum temperature of 48.3 degrees Celsius. Najafgarh followed in second place with 48.1 degrees.
Temperatures were at least 8 degrees above normal, according to the MeT Department. (With inputs from PTI)
