Lajpat Nagar received the best Metro station award at the 32nd Foundation Day function of DMRC on Sunday.
The event at Bharat Mandapam was attended by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupa, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and Chairman of DMRC K Srinivas, and DMRC Managing Director Vikas Kumar.
The corporation’s annual awards were presented to individuals and teams for their exemplary contributions to the organisation, said a statement from DMRC.
The recognitions included Metro Woman of the Year: Sushma Yadav, Senior Station Controller/ Train Operator, Metro Man of the Year: Harendra Kumar, Manager/ Electrical, Best Metro Station: Lajpat Nagar, Best Metro Depot: Najafgarh. Rajbhasha Puruskar was received by Rajesh Kumar Sharma, Section Officer/ Labour Welfare, it said.
Senior officials from the Embassy of Japan and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) also attended the ceremony. Since the commencement of the project, JICA has been a continuous pillar of support, it said.

The Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, and Power, Manohar Lal, congratulated DMRC on the momentous occasion through a message, saying, “With an ambitious start in 2002, the Delhi Metro showed a new path of development and progress to India’s urban transport.”
Sahu said the occasion was not just the completion of a year, but a celebration of the faith that lakhs of people from Delhi-NCR bestowed on DMRC every day.
