The Chief Electoral Officer’s office announced on Sunday that the number of first-time voters in Delhi has surged to 2.43 lakh, marking a significant increase from the 1.47 lakh reported in the final electoral roll published on January 22.

According to a statement released by the Delhi poll body, this surge underscores the success of voter awareness campaigns, particularly targeting the youth demographic.

The CEO expressed optimism that the final tally could reach approximately 2.50 lakh following the publication of the supplementary electoral roll.

Attributing this achievement to the concerted efforts of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities, the poll body highlighted the diverse range of initiatives undertaken, including street plays, drawing and painting competitions, essay-writing contests, slogan campaigns, and voter awareness rallies across various districts.

These initiatives have not only raised awareness but also cultivated a sense of responsibility and engagement among young voters.
