The National Green Tribunal on Wednesday issued a show-cause notice to the Delhi chief secretary, requiring the filing of a report on compliance with the tribunal’s order to remove encroachments from forest land here.
The green body was hearing a plea seeking execution of the tribunal’s August 2018 order directing the Delhi government and its authorities to remove all illegal and non-forest structures in South Delhi’s Asola, Sahupur and Bhati villages.
A bench of judicial member Arun Kumar Tyagi and expert member A Senthil Vel said, “We consider it appropriate to look into the aspect of requisite compliance of the orders passed by this tribunal.”

It directed the tribunal’s registry “to issue a show-cause notice to the respondents (Chief secretary and other departments), requiring them to file their report mentioning the steps taken in compliance with the order dated August 9, 2018.”
The matter has been posted for further proceedings on August 17.
