The schools will remain shut from January 3 until further orders. The decision comes in response to the severe cold and dense fog prevailing in the region

The cold wave in Noida has worsened, leading the District Magistrate to order the closure of all schools for classes up to the 8th grade across all boards. Schools will remain closed from January 2 until further notice due to the severe cold and dense fog affecting the region.

The directive applies to schools affiliated with state boards, CBSE, ICSE, and others. District Basic Education Officer Rahul Panwar has sent a letter to the principals of all schools in Noida regarding the decision.

In the letter, Panwar quoted District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma, highlighting that the cold has been intensifying over the past few days. The administration noted that children attending school in the mornings are likely to face significant difficulties.

The authorities warned that any school found violating the orders would face strict action. The closure will remain in effect until further instructions are issued by the District Magistrate.

Holidays have been declared across schools in Delhi from January 1 to 15, 2025. However, due to rain, many schools have been closed since Christmas while some schools have opted for online classes.

In January 2025, apart from the winter vacation, there will be only two days of holiday. Schools will remain closed on January 17, 2025 (Friday) on the occasion of Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti. Schools also remain closed on Republic Day on January 26, however, this year, it falls on Sunday.

According to the India Meteorological Department, Noida is currently experiencing a cold spell, with temperatures ranging between 8 and 17 degrees on Thursday. The weather forecast predicts fog and mist will persist in the area from January 3 to 6.
