The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced that to alleviate overcrowding on New Year’s Eve, commuters won’t have the option to exit Rajiv Chowk metro station past 9 pm. However, entry for passengers will remain open.

Anuj Dayal, DMRC’s Principal Executive Director, said that, in line with police advice, exiting Rajiv Chowk metro station won’t be permitted after 9 pm on New Year’s Eve to manage the crowd. Nevertheless, passengers can enter the station until the last train departure on December 31. Dayal urged commuters to plan their travel accordingly.

Dayal reassured that services across the rest of the metro network will continue per the regular schedule.

To manage the flow of traffic towards Connaught Place, Delhi Police announced plans to regulate traffic after 8 pm on Sunday.

Around 2,500 traffic police personnel will be deployed to ensure smooth traffic movement, with an additional 250 teams assigned to monitor and prevent drunken driving incidents, as per the police statement issued earlier. (With inputs from PTI)
