Operation Sindoor: India launched 24 missiles within 25 minutes, hitting nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, killing 70 terrorists. The strikes, carried out between 1:05 AM and 1:30 AM on May 7, were part of Operation Sindoor, executed jointly by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
In a press briefing in New Delhi, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, alongside Colonel Sophia Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, described the operation as a “measured and proportionate” response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The attack, attributed to Pakistan-based terror groups, resulted in the deaths of 26 people, including one Nepali national, and left several others injured.

Colonel Qureshi explained that the operation marked a strategic shift, aiming to dismantle terror infrastructure built by Pakistan over the last three decades. She added, “Pakistan has been constructing recruitment centres, training areas, and launch pads across PoJK and Pakistan. This operation targeted those facilities to prevent future attacks.”
Foreign Secretary Misri stated that intelligence had indicated imminent attacks against India. “Thus, India exercised its right to respond to deter such cross-border terrorism,” he said. “Our actions were proportionate and non-escalatory, focusing on dismantling terrorist infrastructure.”
Strikes and Locations
The missile strikes targeted facilities in Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Bahawalpur, Rawalakot, Chakswari, Bhimber, Neelum Valley, Jhelum, and Chakwal—areas long suspected of harbouring terrorist camps affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). Five of the nine locations were in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, while four were in mainland Pakistan. Bahawalpur, a stronghold of JeM, and Muzaffarabad and Bhimber, which have been identified as transit points for infiltration into Kashmir, were among the sites hit.
A government statement confirmed that all strikes achieved their objectives. UAV reconnaissance confirmed the destruction of command centres, training camps, arms depots, and staging facilities. No Pakistani military installations were targeted during the operation.

Scale of Damage
The strikes killed over 70 terrorists and injured more than 60. The operation, which employed both ground-launched and air-launched missiles, was monitored in real time by surveillance drones, confirming the destruction of targets with minimal civilian casualties. Precision-guided munitions, including laser-designated missiles and satellite-guided glide bombs, ensured accurate strikes and avoided collateral damage. Multiple warheads were launched simultaneously, neutralising the terror camps.
