Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) is operating smoothly at present, Delhi International Airport Ltd. (DIAL) reported on Monday, although passengers should anticipate possible delays. Enhanced security protocols and shifting airspace restrictions may impact some flight schedules and lengthen security checkpoint processing times.
DIAL urged travelers to arrive earlier than usual and to cooperate fully with airline and security staff to ensure a seamless journey. The advisory follows widespread disruptions over the weekend: on Sunday alone, approximately 100 flights to and from Delhi were canceled.
These cancellations came amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, which led to the temporary suspension of civilian operations at 32 airports across the country’s northern and western regions, including Srinagar and Amritsar. The Airports Authority of India, in coordination with other aviation bodies, issued Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) closing these facilities from May 9 through May 15.

However, on Saturday, New Delhi and Islamabad agreed to an immediate cessation of all military activities—on land, in the air, and at sea—prompting authorities to lift the imposed restrictions. Civil aviation officials have confirmed that the 32 affected airports will soon resume normal operations, with a formal announcement expected in the coming days.
