PM-UDAY, or Prime Minister Unauthorized Colonies in Delhi Awas Adhikar Yojana, is a scheme for the conferment of ownership rights to the residents of 1,731 notified unauthorised colonies in Delhi

Delhi: More than 400 women submitted applications for ownership rights to their properties in unauthorised colonies under the PM-UDAY scheme on International Women’s Day, the Raj Niwas announced.

In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor’s office highlighted the scheme’s success, stating, “Achieving unprecedented success on the occasion of International Women’s Day yesterday, PM-UDAY camps set new records. In 10 camps organised in different areas of Delhi, 432 women applicants applied for ownership rights of their property in unauthorised colonies.”

The post further added, “Of these, 285 applications were successfully resolved, and 101 women were provided with ownership documents! Hear them in their own words.”

The Prime Minister Unauthorised Colonies in Delhi Awas Adhikar Yojana (PM-UDAY) is an initiative aimed at granting ownership rights to residents of 1,731 notified unauthorised colonies in the capital. These rights are conferred under the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Recognition of Property Rights of Residents in Unauthorised Colonies) Regulations, 2019.

Officials noted that securing legal ownership of properties allows residents to freely buy and sell properties, apply for bank loans, and get building plans approved for structural modifications.

The large number of women applicants reflects growing awareness and empowerment among female property owners in Delhi’s unauthorised colonies. The successful processing of applications on International Women’s Day underscores the scheme’s role in enhancing financial security and legal recognition for women.

With a strong push from the administration, the PM-UDAY scheme continues to help residents formalise their property ownership, ensuring long-term stability and economic growth.
