Several parts of the national capital woke up to light showers on Thursday morning, bringing a slight change in weather conditions.
The city, which had been experiencing fluctuating temperatures, recorded a minimum temperature of 15 degrees Celsius, which is 3.2 notches above the season’s average, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
According to the IMD, the sky is expected to remain generally cloudy throughout the day, with the possibility of a light drizzle in some areas. The maximum temperature is likely to settle around 25 degrees Celsius, providing mild and comfortable weather conditions for Delhiites.
The rainfall and cloud cover contributed to a slight improvement in air quality, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 164 at 9 am, placing it in the “moderate” category. Data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) indicated that while pollution levels were not severe, they remained a concern for those sensitive to air quality fluctuations.
The AQI scale classifies air quality into six categories: a reading between zero and 50 is considered “good,” between 51 and 100 is “satisfactory,” while an index between 101 and 200 falls under the “moderate” category. Further, an AQI range of 201 to 300 is categorized as “poor,” 301 to 400 as “very poor,” and any reading between 401 and 500 is deemed “severe,” posing significant health risks.
The changing weather patterns and fluctuating air quality have been a recurring theme in Delhi’s climate this season, with occasional rain providing temporary relief from pollution levels.
The IMD has advised residents to expect similar conditions in the coming days, with a mix of cloud cover and occasional drizzles keeping the temperature in check.

Despite the slight relief from pollution, experts recommend that individuals with respiratory conditions take precautions, as the air quality remains less than ideal for prolonged outdoor activities.
