Preparations have been kick-started by the Shri Dharmik Ramlila Committee for the annual Ramlila at the Red Fort. After a gap of two years following the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will open up for the public this year, however, the committee is yet to decide the exact number of people who can gather at the event.
The Ramlila will begin on September 26 and will conclude on October 5.
A ‘bhumi puja’ was concluded at Madhavdas Park in Red Fort on Sunday. The committee too has entered its 100th year, making the event more special.
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, former union minister Murli Manohar Joshi, Congress’ Alka Lamba, and Hans Raj Hans among others attended the event today. Khan, while referring to a Sanskrit shlok, said that until there is water in rivers and there are mountains, the story of Ramlila would continue to entertain people.
He added that people will get to know their maryada (limits) through Ramayana.
Safety measures and security would be placed to avoid any accidents during the events, officials said.
This year, President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and other party leaders like Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi have been invited to the event, the committee members added.
