Waseem Sattar Ghazi, a resident of Jamia Nagar’s Allahdiya Cottage, was identified as the deceased.
The patient was rushed to Holy Family Hospital shortly after being shot, but the doctors proclaimed him brought dead.
The admission of a person who had been shot in the leg was reported to the police by the hospital administration. A group of police officers from the neighbourhood police station hurried to the hospital and launched an inquiry. The deceased’s family members were also made aware of the situation.
The victim, Ghazi, was riding his motorbike on Sunday when an unknown armed criminal approached him on a scooter and opened fire on him close to a mosque in Noor Nagar, according to an early inquiry. The attacker shot Ghazi three times before escaping from the scene.
The Arms Act’s sections 302 (murder), 25, 27, 54 and 59 have all been registered by the police.
As reported to TOI by an officer, the police is searching CCTV footage from the surrounding neighbourhoods to find the killer.
