The 23-second clip, filmed just moments before a train’s arrival, quickly gained attention across social media platforms, drawing sharp criticism from many viewers.

The footage, initially posted on the ‘r/Delhi’ subreddit before being removed for policy reasons, resurfaced on X (formerly Twitter), where it was widely shared. The video captures the boy relieving himself while his father stands beside him, apparently unconcerned. The individual recording the scene can be heard expressing disapproval in Hindi, pointing out the public setting and identifying the location as Inderlok Metro Station. The camera also pans to show the station signage, leaving no doubt about where the incident took place.

Towards the end of the clip, another man—believed to be a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) staff member—approaches the father to question him. The man offers a brief, unclear reply before leaving the area with his son.
Online reactions were swift and divided. A large number of users condemned the father’s actions as a blatant disregard for civic norms and public hygiene. Some called for penalties, arguing such incidents damage the city’s image and compromise passenger safety. Others, however, took a more nuanced view, suggesting that insufficient access to clean public toilets within metro premises may have contributed to the situation.
Comments ranged from calls for greater civic awareness to criticism of infrastructure shortcomings. One user wrote that people demand order without making personal efforts to uphold it, urging a change in mindset. Another argued that toilet facilities should be available inside metro stations to prevent such situations. Others lamented that public urination has become so commonplace in some areas that many fail to recognise it as socially unacceptable.
