The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts a fresh spell of rain, hailstorm, and thunderstorm in the national capital from March 23 to March 25.

According to an IMD official, a western disturbance, observed as a cyclonic circulation over Iran, is likely to move eastwards towards North India in the next two days.

A cyclonic circulation over Southwest Rajasthan and a trough from Rayalaseema to South Jharkhand in lower tropospheric levels indicate that Northwest India, including Delhi, will witness a fresh spell of rainfall and thunderstorm activity from the evening of March 23 to March 25.

The IMD has also issued a yellow alert for Delhi, with rainfall expected on Thursday and Friday, along with warnings of gusty winds.

The official further added that Delhi may experience thunderstorms and light rain on Friday, which will provide some respite from the dry and dusty weather.

Cloudy skies over the next six to seven days are expected to keep the maximum temperature below the 30-degree mark, making the weather pleasant and comfortable, he added.

This rainfall is also expected to improve the air quality in the national capital, bringing relief to the residents who have been struggling with pollution.
