The Delhi government has initiated the process to rejuvenate the Ranikhera pond in the city’s northwestern parts to pave the way for its multilevel manufacturing hub project, officials said on Friday.

The Delhi State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) has floated a tender to rejuvenate the Ranikhera water body in Mundka and the work will be completed within three months, they said.

The estimated cost of the work is Rs 45.5 lakh. Rejuvenating the water body is the first step towards developing the multilevel manufacturing hub project, the officials said.

The 147-acre Ranikhera land is proposed to be developed as an industrial hub of eco-friendly industries like IT, ITES (Information Technology-Enabled Services) and research and development, they added.

The city government will provide land at concessional rates for setting up industries to create a large number of job opportunities in non-polluting, service sector industries, including biotechnology, IT and IT-enabled services, system design and testing, the officials said.

According to the plan, the hub will have administrative blocks, warehouses, commercial offices, retail outlets, food courts and parking facilities.

The rejuvenation of the Ranikhera pond will improve drainage, enhance groundwater recharge and strengthen the environmental profile of the upcoming industrial zone, the officials added.
