Gallery Art Positive will showcase An Abstract Pause, a contemporary art exhibition, opening on January 31, at their Lado Sarai venue in New Delhi. The exhibition, running until February 28, features works by renowned artists including Alka Jhamb, Avneet Chawla, Anwar, Bose Krishnamachari, Birender Yadav, Chandan Agarwal, Claire Lono, Manish Pushkale, Moksha Kumar, Neeraja Divate, Shahanshah Mittal, Shobha Broota, and Sujata Bajaj.
Curated by Georgina Maddox and presented by Anu Bajaj, the exhibition explores abstraction as an artistic expression that transcends personal and collective narratives, aiming to present “pure” art through basic elements like line and colour. Inspired by the philosophy of artists such as Piet Mondrian, the show delves into abstraction’s ability to evoke emotions and convey deeper meanings, particularly through the lens of the multiverse—a concept exploring the simultaneous existence of multiple dimensions.
Curator Georgina Maddox said, “Abstraction has long been engaged with the idea of infinity and the multiverse, even before the concept became popular in contemporary discussions. Through abstraction, artists distil the essence of life’s mystical energies, bringing forward the balance of forces that govern nature and the universe”.
